The parks department tried other daddy-daughter activities like luaus and hoedowns but &8220;people really like that traditional, dress-up, go-out-for-dinner-before kind of dance,&8221; Walker said.
The dance includes a disc jockey, refreshments, goodie bags and a photograph to take home.

They watched the youngest girls mimic with exaggerated movements the older girls while line dancing, and another girl run up one of her dads legs, twirl around, and then run down the other.

They enjoyed watching the dads and daughters dance.
Livonia resident Rayleen Morgan brought her dad, Ray Fleming, 78, of Belleville after she inquired and found out there was no age restriction.
&8220;There were so many comments from people who didnt have their dads still, or from people who had done special things with their dads,&8221; Morgan said.
Morgan said her dad was a little surprised when she asked him, wondering why she would want to take a man who has a bad hip and is hard of hearing to a dance.
They reminisced about how her dad danced at weddings with his granddaughters, even taking one of them to a daddy-daughter dance when her brother couldnt.
